READERS MAILS After having commented Lucar Jam's article, the wish arose to write a few words about another topic in your magazine, however, for being a delicate issue regarding young Tibetans I abstained from it. Yet, I feel moved to give my opinion about the Miss Tibet Contest: Beautiful, charming and intelligent modern Tibetan women! No question! Because of the mere fact that they are "Tibetans" also their radiation is somewhat mystic, and this combined with their dignified appearance makes them even the more adorable. But ............to see them depicted in bathing suit/bikini in a more or less provocative manner (which does not suit them at all because it is not at all a "Tibetan" manner and, therefore, should have been left out) was just not the optimum copied from the decadent West where "dignity" is a foreign word anyhow! Moreover, I think, also by this sort of entertainment Tibetans are endangered of loosing their identity! These lines do not come from an old puritanic women. Although I do not anymore belong to the younger generation, believe me, I am much more liberal that any of you. My hope is, Tibetans do not adopt more decadent Western "crab" infecting with it the Tibetan Community in McLeod Ganj and other places possibly making vanish the traditional Buddhist education amongst the young. I am not alone with this opinion, am I ? May the New Year bring contentment and through this happiness to everybody and may wisdom overcome greediness and hatred! Peace and Blessings I am 19 years old guy from Kathmandu although my home town is Kalimpong , India . I really appreciate the articles and the hard work put forward by TIBETODAY magazine. I feel myself proud to be a Tibetan after I got to know a lot about our country and her ongoing struggle around the globe through your magazine. In fact, Tibetoday magazine has generated more interest and love towards my country and her struggle. Now I have become more aware of my identity and about my roots and of course the responsibilities. I wish the whole team members of this wonderful magazine a success in years to come.
