Tibetans Express Solidarity with Mumbai Terror Victims

Dharamsala : As India slowly recovers from the recent tragedy that struck its financial capital, hundreds of Tibetans and Indians marched with candles today to mark their solidarity with the victims of the Mumbai terrorist attacks that left at least 188 people dead.

The Rotary Club of Dharamsala in conjunction with Dainik Jagran organized the march that began at the Kacheri (judicial complex) and ended at the War Memorial in Dharamsala.

The Tibetan Women’s Association, Students for a Free Tibet, Gu Chu Sum Movement, and Institute of Buddhist Dialectics took part in the march.
The president of the Rotary Club B Katoch said he was pleased with the participation of the local Tibetans in the march and thanked them on his association’s behalf.

Tenzin Choeying, the president of the Students for a Free Tibet, India , told phayul that Tibetans owe a lot to the people of India and their government, and that the participation of the Tibetans was one of the ways to express their gratitude.

“We condemn violence in any form, and we stand in total support with India in tackling the menace of terrorism. We express our sympathy and solidarity with the families of the victims. We pray for the rebirth of the departed souls in higher realms.”

Elsewhere, the Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Dharamsala organized a candle light vigil in Mcleod Ganj to display their sympathy to the families of the Mumbai terror victims. The march started from the local bus stop and concluded with a gathering at the Theckchen Choeling courtyard.
