Tibetans in the US and Canada Pray for China Quake Victims

New York: Tibetan Community based in the North America organised a prayer session for the victims of the recent earthquake that struck southwest China on 12 May.

Tibetans in Portland, Northern California, Southern California, Chariottesville, Washington DC, Minnesota, Madison, Utah, Toronto and British Columbia conducted a series of prayer sessions. They have voluntarily collected donations, which will be send to the Red Cross to help in relief efforts.

As a mark of solidarity with the victims, Tibetans residing in Portland, Northern California and Minnesota have stopped staging demonstrations in front of the Chinese embassy and consulates till May end.

In Canada, Tibetans in Calgary have joined with the Chinese community in the same locality and offered prayers and collected donations for the families affected by the devastating earthquake.

On Sunday, 25 May, Tibetan Community in New York and New Jersey will conduct a prayer gathering in remembrance of victims of the earthquake.

The Tibetans across the world have shown solidarity for victims of the recent earthquake as the Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration based in Dharamshala appealed on 15 May.

The Kashag requested Tibetans to halt demonstrations in front of Chinese embassies till May end. Tibetans are requested to write a letter, or send a message, to the concerned that they are doing so in solidarity with the quake victims.
