Kashag Appeals for Calm and Peace

Friday, 16 May 2008 , 9:44 a.m.

Dharamshala: The Central Tibetan Administration today issued a press statement. The press statement said: " A writ petition has been filed by the so-called Dorje Shugden Devotees Charitable and Religious Society based in Delhi against His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Samdhong Rinpoche, the Kalon Tripa of the Central Tibetan Administration, in Delhi High Court.

The recently filed petition alleges His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Central Tibetan Administration of violating human rights and religious freedom of the Shugden propitiators. The Union Government of India and the State Government of Himachal Pradesh are other respondents to this case.

In view of the growing resentment and concern among the general Tibetan populace about this case, which is based on dubious accusations, the Central Tibetan Administration appeals all to maintain calm and peace in their respective places. Adept Lawyers representing His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche are handling the said case and they both need not attend personally to the hearings. In fact, the Delhi High Court has now deferred the hearing on the admission of said case to 12 September 2008."
