Former Tibetan Ministers Call on the Dalai Lama

Dharamshala, September 29 – The former Kalons who concluded a meeting called on the Dalai Lama at the latter’s residence here Saturday. The former Kalons who met on 22 September for a 5-day meeting presented before the Dalai Lama a report of the meeting.

Voice of Tibet radio service reported Saturday that the former ministers who discussed issues from Sino-Tibetan Dialogue to the Dalai Lama’s personal health at their meeting briefed the Tibetan leader about the meeting.

Talking to the radio service, former Kalon Tripa (prime minister) Sonam Togyal said that the main agenda for the meeting was the Sino Tibetan dialogue.

According to Kalon Trisur (former prime minister) Sonam, the Dalai Lama assured the former ministers of his good health, and asked them not to worry. “His Holiness told us that he is fine and that he is taking good care of his health. He assured us that he would always be there for the Tibetan people,” Sonam told VOT.

The Dalai Lama also told the ministers that the ‘Special Meeting’ due to be held in November is an important event for the Tibetan people and that the Tibetan people’s views must be brought and discussed during the meeting.

The 73 year old Tibetan leader also said that any consensus reached at the meeting will be acceptable to him.

The former prime minister also said that there are rumors doing rounds in the Tibetan circles about their meeting being an anti- Kashag and held to criticize the incumbent cabinet. “This is totally baseless, we met to contribute to the efforts of the Kashag and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and not to criticize or obstruct.”
