NDTV Correspondent

Friday, March 21, 2008 ( New Delhi)

Scores of Tibetans on Friday stormed the Chinese Embassy in New Delhi, supporting and fighting for the cause of independence for Tibet despite heavy police presence and barricades.

A few of them managed to climb the walls and broke into the visa wing of the Embassy.

Most of the protesters were wearing shirts with slogans, calling for a boycott of the Beijing Olympics; a few of them have been injured after being lathicharged by the police.

The protesters want China to stop using force in Tibet and release all those arrested during the current unrest.

They said if their demands were not met, they will protest at more Chinese Embassies around the world.

Tibetan Youth Congress that wants the Olympics be stopped carried out the protests.
