Indian Politician Mrs. Uma Bharti to lead March to Tibet border

Posted: April 13th, 2008: PTI

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janshakti party leader Uma Bharti on Friday said she will lead a protest March to the Indo-Tibetan border next week to express solidarity with the Tibetan people’s independence movement in China.

She said she will leave Joshimath in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand next Tuesday along with her supporters and try to enter Tibet to protest against the “Chinese attrocities” on Tibetans.

“We will be marching to the Tibet border on Tuesday and will try to enter tibet,” she told PTI over phone from Uttarakhand. Accusing the Indian government of “not taking a clear stand” on the Tibetan issue, she said Tibet has its own culture and new Delhi has no clear policy on it.

“We take strong exception to the Indian government’s stand. There is a lot of human rights violation committed by the Chinese government in Tibet which should be challenged,” the BJS Chief said.
