Tharchin Y Gonpo has done his Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Political Science and English Literature from Mangalore University, South India with academic distinction. After that he pursued further studies in Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) at RAI UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL in Bangalore. He has also done professional training in Still Photograhpy under a reknowned Indian professional photographer, Ramesh Dhami Singh based in Bangalore whose works of art have been frequently published in various national and international journals and newspapers.

He completed his post graduation in year 2005 with the specialization in Media Production. His documentary film titled LIFE IN EXILE was adjudged the best masters' project among the entire sister colleges of Rai University across India.

It has been his long cherished dream to start an English magazine which he feels is so important and indispensable for the Tibetan freedom movement. It is with this chief goal he took up media studies after his schooling from TCV. Thus he hopes to provide indepth media coverage on freedom movements and awareness campaigns that are happening across the world. Besides TIBETODAY would be an ideal print medium to have free and fair discussions on issues concerning Tibet and Tibetans and to create a network of communication among Tibetan diaspora.
