Tibetans to Invite Chinese Scientists and Environmentalists for Discussion at Copenhagen

Dharamshala: The Tibetan delegation has invited around 10 Chinese scientists and environmentalists based in Denmark for their participation in a panel discussion on 'Nomads: Climate Change and Human Rights, scheduled Thursday, 17 December.
"We have so far confirmed some around 10 Chinese come to us to have a informal green dialogue on 17 December. We have been trying to fix appointments with some Chinese scientists and environmentalists from the mainland China," Mr Tenzin Norbu, a Tibetan delegate attending the climate conference told this website in an e-mail message.
The Voice of America's TV news service will broadcast a live interview with Mr Tenzin Norbu at 7:30 pm (IST) on Wednesday, 16 December. Mr. Norbu is a researcher at the Dharamsala-based Environment and Development Desk of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Established in 1989, the Environment and Development Desk works to monitor and research on environment and development issues inside Tibet and disseminate information and carry out selective advocacy on promoting sustainable development inside Tibet. The desk also organise talks and workshops to create awareness on environmental issues in the exiled Tibetan community.
Meanwhile, Mr Thupten Samdup, the representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in London, will be arriving in Copenhagen today. There will be a meeting between him and the Tibetan delegates on the closing session of the climate-change conference on 18 December.
