Mr. Tsering Dhondup Namey Lahkhang Sworn in as Justice Commissioner

Dharamshala: Mr. Tsering Dhondup Namey Lahkhang, a former Secretary of the Department of Religion and Culture of Central Tibetan Administration, took oath as Justice Commissioner of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission.  

His Holiness the Dalai Lama administered the oath of office at a ceremony held early this morning at the Office of His Holiness. The ceremony was attended by Chief Justice Commissioner and Justice Commissioner, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile (TPIE) and members of the Kashag.

After the swearing in ceremony the official ceremony of the appointment of the new Justice Commissioner took place at the Kashag Secretariat. The officials from various departments and offices of the administration felicitated Mr. Dhondup during the ceremony.

Mr. Dhondup was nominated to the post by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and unanimously approved by the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile during its recently concluded ninth session.

He served the Central Tibetan Administration in different capacities since he joined service on October 1, 1975 . Among others he worked prominently as Joint Secretary and later as Additional Secretary at the office of Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission from 1994 to 1999.

He served as Additional Secretary at the Kashag Secretariat from 2000 and later deputed as the officiating Cabinet Secretary in 2005. In 2006 he was promoted to Secretary and deputed at the Department of Religon and Culture. 

He took retirement from the service on August 27, 2008 .
