Kalon Tripa Affirms Tibetan People's Commitment to Non-Violence

Dharamshala: Affirming that the Tibetan people will continue to tread the path of non-violence to resolve the issue of Tibet , Kalon Tripa Prof Samdhong Rinpoche on Friday expressed optimism that the Chinese leadership will work towards finding a solution to the Tibetan issue.

Kalon Tripa stated this in his address after attending an all-religious prayer meeting in Ahmedabad to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his 61st death anniversary.

After offering prayers at Sabarmati Ashram, set up by Gandhi during India 's freedom struggle, Kalon Tripa said that if Tibet is able to commit to non-violence consistently, there is no way that China cannot change.

Kalon Tripa said commitment to Gandhi's principle of non-violence will certainly usher change in the world.

"Violence can destroy the entire earth. Only if we remain committed to the principle of non-violence of Mahatma Gandhi, change will come definitely," Kalon Tripa added.

Veteran Gandhian Nayanbhai Desai and people from all walks of life gathered in large numbers at the ashram, while children from various schools across the city also attended the prayer meet.

Mahatma Gandhi – also known as the Father of the Nation - gave India and the world an inspiring legacy of non-violence and truth. Interfaith prayers, tributes and various programmes were held across India to remember Mahatma Gandhi.
