Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama this morning gave teachings to over 3,000 Buddhist devotees at Dagpo Shedrupling Monastery, nestled in the picturesque Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh.

Prior to the teaching, His Holiness was ushered to the monastery's main temple by Dagpo Rinpoche, followed by a grand procession of monks. Following a brief chanting of prayers the monks presented traditional debate on Buddhist philosophy to Holiness.

Devotees from local community and other parts of the world attended the teachings.

Dagpo Rinpoche offered Mendel Tensum for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

In the afternoon, His Holiness was scheduled to visit the Tibetan Vocational Training Centre – a branch of Tibetan Children's Village School at Patlikul in Manali. His Holiness was to meet the students and the teachers during the visit.

His Holiness arrived in Kullu yesterday afternoon and he was warmly received by Dagpo Rinpoche, monks of the monastery, devotees and students from France and Malaysia.

His Holiness will proceed to Jispa to deliver Heruka initiation and teachings from 19-22 August.
