Indianapolis, 12 May 2010 -- The Dalai Lama is in Indiana, spending a few days in Bloomington and then addressing a large audience in Indianapolis Saturday.
The Buddhist Centre of Indianapolis is helping host the Tibetan leader in exile who will speak to some 10,000 people at Conseco Field House.
It will be the largest interfaith gathering in central Indiana.
“There are a lot of interfaith initiatives for many projects but they’re usually Jewish and Christian, or Christian and Muslim and Jewish but it’s very rare that you see such a diversity of faiths coming together for a common cause,” Rabbi Sandy Eisenberg Sasso with the Congregation Bethel Zedek said.
Money raised through ticket sales will go toward the Indiana Hunger Initiative to keep food pantries open more days and for longer hours. |
